GoConnect, Netbay Asian-language IPTV
April 21, 2011
IPTV company GoConnect and ISP Netbay Internet have formed a 50-50 joint venture devoted to distributing Asian language IPTV programming in Australia.
The arrangement will see the creation of an equally-owned company, Asia IPTV, which will initially serve up Cantonese and Mandarin language programming.
GoConnect, will be responsible for distribution across its various IPTV properties, which currently also includes programming such as music content from uctv.fm and The Business Show. Netbay will host the programmes and distribute them within its own broadband network.
The content is currently being offered by Netbay through its own MyiTV IPTV service, under license from the Australian subsidiary of TVB. TVB is a Hong Kong free to air broadcaster. The joint company intends to eventually expand to include Korean, Indian, Chinese and Vietnamese language channels.
