The BBC cancelled a press announcement of their iPlayer for iPad and Android after one their own engineers leaked the news on Twitter.

Now the BBC says: “All things being well we plan to have Android and iPad apps in stores by the end of the week.” iPlayer already works on iOS via mobile web, but a native experience should be better.

Future media and technology GM Daniel Danker says: “This is about getting the basics right, simple apps.”
