China requires STB license

China’s State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) has announced it is requiring all companies that provide audio/video programming to TV audiences via set-top boxes or Internet-enabled TVs to obtain an A/V programme information network broadcasting licence. In addition, all TV or movie programmes broadcast on TV terminals must have an offline broadcasting licence, the announcement said.
