Sogecable accuses La Sexta of piracy
April 24, 2009
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Sogecable, owner of Canal Plus and digital DTH platform, Digital Plus, has accused commercial TV channel La Sexta of pirating the signal of its premium channel Canal Plus, by broadcasting a review of the football match between Real Madrid and Getafe, offered by the pay-TV channel.
The pay-TV company said that La Sexta pirated Canal Plus’ images and production, “hiding the logo” what it proves again, according to the company, the impunity of the channel and ruins the current exploitation model of football TV rights.
Canal Plus plans to take the case to Court; there is already a legal case against La Sexta for an alleged Intelectual Property infringement pirating the signal of Digital Plus last year to offer matches of the Spanish Football League.
