Vodafone and Orange TV football price war
September 2, 2016
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Vodafone and Orange have entered a new fight for the best value football offer. In an attempt to capture subscribers, both have extended to mid-September the promotion offer of €5 and €6 a month for La Liga and European football competitions.
From September 15, subscribers to Orange will pay €19.95 a month (€9.95 for La Liga and €10 for the Champion League) whereas Vodafone’s subs will pay €18.
The price war is likely to have a negative impact on their financial performance as both will get lower revenues with football TV rights increasing to €1.1 billion a year from €600 million back in 2014.
