CBS, Amazon expand content deal
January 30, 2014
CBS and Amazon have signed an expansion and extension of their content licensing agreement to continue to bring classic series and hit TV shows from CBS Television Distribution and Showtime Networks to Amazon’s Prime Instant Video service. As a result of the extension, a vast catalogue of CBS content will be made available for Prime members to instantly stream at no additional cost.
With this agreement, Prime Instant Video customers will continue to get CBS and Showtime fan-favourite TV series such as Medium, The Tudors, the complete Star Trek franchise, I Love Lucy and others – as well as new titles such as Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior, Penn & Teller and Vegas. All programming will stream in Prime Instant Video commercial-free on Kindle Fire HD, iPad, iPhone, iPod touch, Roku, Xbox, PlayStation and Wii, among other devices.
“We are very pleased to continue expanding our partnership with Amazon,” said Scott Koondel, Chief Corporate Licensing Offer for CBS Corporation. “CBS content is clearly a great match with Prime Instant Video’s growing user base.”
Amazon’s Prime Instant Video recently announced it will be the exclusive premium subscription home for the upcoming CBS summer series Extant, produced by Steven Spielberg and starring Halle Berry.
