Greek police have raided the studios and broadcasting offices of former public broadcaster ERT.  The raid took place at 4.30am on November 7th.  The staff evicted were former employees who have continued to occupy the building despite being laid off in June.

The Greek government had said at the time that the former ERT was over-manned and allegedly corrupt, and fired 2700 staff.   Meanwhile, many of those laid off have continued to occupy the studios and continued transmitting unauthorised signals which the European Broadcasting Union relayed onto one of its satellites.

Greece set up a smaller national broadcaster called EDT (Greek Public Television). EDT started transmissions on August 21st.
