Uruguay’s national network goes HD

Television Nacional Uruguay (TNU), the nation’s main public network, has started trialling an HDTV service on its digital terrestrial TV system. The service is expected to go ‘live’ about a month from now in mid-August.
The country’s Industry Minister, Roberto Kreimerman, said TNU’s signals will also be available on the nation’s mobile phone systems for those with the ‘OneSeg’ ISDB-T tuner fitted.
The Minister added that Uruguay is on schedule to switch off its analogue transmissions by 2015.
