Hemisphere extends Miss Universe partnership

October 31, 2025

Hemisphere Media Group, a US media company serving the US Hispanic and Latin American markets, has announced an extension of its multi-year agreement with the Miss Universe Organisation, encompassing the exclusive franchise and broadcast rights for Miss Universe Puerto Rico and the broadcast rights to the global Miss Universe competition, which will be held in Puerto Rico in 2026.

This renewal builds on Hemisphere’s longstanding partnership with the Miss Universe Organisation.

Under the extended deal, WAPA TV, the Puerto Rican broadcast network, will remain the exclusive home of Miss Universe Puerto Rico, while WAPA America will carry the event nationally in the US. WAPA TV will also air the global Miss Universe telecast.

Alan Sokol, President and CEO of Hemisphere Media Group, commented: “Miss Universe is one of the world’s most iconic and inspiring franchises, and this agreement represents a significant step in Hemisphere’s strategy to expand our footprint in global entertainment. By uniting the power of the Miss Universe brand with the reach of WAPA TV, WAPA América, and beyond with amplification through all brands within the WAPA Media umbrella, we’re creating new opportunities to celebrate culture, empower talent, and connect audiences across platforms. Puerto Rico’s extraordinary legacy at Miss Universe makes this partnership especially meaningful as we continue to elevate Hispanic voices and stories on a global stage.”

The continuation of this partnership aligns with Hemisphere’s broader growth strategy to expand its portfolio of entertainment and live event programming, complementing its FAST channels (WAPA+, Tode Cine, Todo Novelas, Más Pasiones, and ES24) and the sustained growth of WAPA América in the US market.
