Spain: Caro to lead scripted local originals for Max

Warner Bros Discovery (WBD) has announced that Jose Maria Caro, currently Director of Original Production for Max in Spain, will assume responsibility for Scripted Local Originals for Max in Spain where he will lead the development and production of Max’s original scripted productions in the country.
Caro will oversee some of Max’s most anticipated local content offerings such as When Nobody Sees Us and Ragewhich premiere this year. Caro and his team will work on an expanding Spanish language slate for Max with multiple projects currently in development. As part of his role, Caro will report directly to Laura Carafoli, WBD’s SVP Content Networks & Streaming Local Productions Italy & Iberia. Spanish Discovery TV networks and Max’s original non-fiction production projects in the country will continue to be led by Bibiana González, Director, Content Networks & Streaming Non-scripted Original Production.
With more than 25 years of experience in the media and creative sector, including positions with Amazon Studios, Middle East Broadcasting Center, and Originals Media Group, Caro brings extensive experience in the creation, production, distribution, and management of content to the role. After spending several years in the Middle East and Asia Pacific, where he collaborated as Content Director, Executive Producer, Director and Assistant Director with companies such as Mediapro ME, MBC (Middle East Broadcasting Center) & Originals Media Group, he joined Buendía Estudios where he was Executive Producer of series such as, among others, La Templanza (Prime Video), La Cocinera de Castamar and Señor Dame Paciencia (Atresmedia) and also directed Los Protegidos, El Regreso (Atresmedia). He was then Head of Spanish original series at Amazon Studios, participating in projects such as Los Farad, Reina Roja, Sin Huellas and Romancero among others.
