The United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V launch of the SES-20 and SES-21 mission has been delayed due to potential impacts from Hurricane Ian. Both satellites are integrated to the launch vehicle and safely secured within the Vehicle Integration Facility at Launch Complex-41. Pending range approval, the next launch attempt is scheduled for October 4th at 19:36. EDT.

ULA was working on a September 30th launch attempt of the SES-20 and SES-21 mission and is working closely with the site’s weather experts to monitor Hurricane Ian.

The commercial dual-payload launch is for satellite operator SES of Luxembourg. Lift-off – when the weather permits – will occur from Space Launch Complex-41 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station, Florida.

The two SES satellites will fulfil a portion of the operator’s obligations to the FCC as part of the agreement to release C-band frequencies for repurposing into 5G.
