Netflix Hastings joins Facebook board
June 24, 2011
Facebook has announced that Reed Hastings, the Netflix chief executive, is joining its board as its sixth member, as the company prepares an IPO for next year. It could also be a sign of Netflix moving to incorporate more social networking. It is also another bridge to Microsoft, a Facebook shareholder, where Hastings is also on the board.
“Reed is an entrepreneur and technologist who has led Netflix to transform the way people watch movies and TV,” Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook’s founder and chief executive, said. “He has built a culture of continuous rapid innovation, something we share and work hard to build every day.”
