More watch Women’s semi-final than Champions League

The Women’s World Cup semi-final between England and the USA on July 2nd attracted the highest peak audience of any TV show so far this year.
A peak audience of 11.73 million – nearly 51 pr cent of the total TV audience – tuned in to watch England’s narrow 2-1 defeat, beating the Line of Duty series finale in May which peaked with 9.6 million viewers, and ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent which drew just under 11 million.
The figure also beat the combined digital and TV figure of 11.3 million who watched the men’s Champions League final last month, which BT Sport made available for free.
An average of 10.3 million watched the entire match – although the figures do not include the many viewers who watched it via the BBC’s online streaming services or those who watched in pubs.
England will now play Sweden in the third-place match on July 6th, whilst the USA take on The Netherlands in the final on July 7th.
