Stratolaunch, the giant twin-fuselage aircraft backed by the late Paul Allen (co-founder of Microsoft), is reportedly in its last days, according to Reuters and sources within the business.

The Stratolaunch aircraft was designed to fly satellites to a high altitude and then – with the help of a smallish rocket – launching the satellites into orbit.

The aircraft made its debut – and only flight to date – on April 13^th when it reached 4600 metres high and a speed of 305 km/h.  It is based at the Mojave Air & Space Port.

Allen died in October last year.
