An NBC affiliated station in the US has been blacked out because of a carriage dispute with DirecTV.

KMTR (NBC 16) which serves viewers in Oregon, put out a statement on May 31^st saying that DirecTV has “unilaterally decided to discontinue the carriage of this station”.

KMTR is owned by Roberts Media and the Sinclair Broadcast Group.

“The retransmission agreement with DirecTV to carry the station expired March 31st and after several extensions DirecTV and the station were not able to reach an agreement that allows for further carriage of the station. Our station provided an unconditional extension offer earlier in the week, which DirecTV rejected,” stated KMTR.

The broadcaster advises viewers to view its content on Dish Network or via local cable operators.
