London-based specialist satellite business Avanti has secured an order from Washington-based Comsat, which supplies communications for the US Department of Defence and US government services.
The deal is a 7-year Master Distribution Agreement with Comsat, and means that Avanti is now an approved carrier of Comsat traffic.
“With this agreement, Avanti gains immediate access to US global governmental and military activity that may otherwise take multiple years to gain approval to serve,” says Avanti.
Avanti adds that Comsat will benefit from the recently launched Hylas 4 satellite which is due to enter service in September.
