Embratel Star One, a Brazilian satellite operator, says it has issued Requests for Proposals (RFPs) for a new satellite. This craft, named Star One D2, will be its 12^th satellite and the most powerful in the Star One fleet.

The plan, says Embratel, is to have the satellite in orbit by the end of 2019.

The RFPs will be confirmed by orders by October this year. The new satellite’s specification includes Ku-band, C-band and Ka-band capacity.

Embratel is a major Brazilian telco, now owned by Mexican telecommunications giant Claro/America Movil.
