Spain: Movistar Plus launching 4 World Cup channels

May 20, 2026

From David Del Valle in Madrid

Movistar Plus, the Spanish broadcaster, is preparing to launch four dedicated channels for the 2026 FIFA World Cup under the ‘DAZN Mundial’ brand which will air all 104 matches of the football tournament.

The platform, which secured the rights to broadcast the entire competition through a partnership with DAZN, will temporarily reshape its existing football channel line-up to accommodate the expanded coverage required during the tournament.

Rather than creating entirely new channel slots, Movistar Plus+ will repurpose the current positions occupied by its domestic football services DAZN LaLiga. During the World Cup, those channels will be rebranded as DAZN Mundial, DAZN Mundial 2, DAZN Mundial 3 and DAZN Mundial 4.

The main World Cup channel will occupy channel 55, replacing the existing DAZN LaLiga signal. DAZN Mundial 2 will move into channel 58, while two additional overflow channels will appear on channels 173 and 174.

The move forms part of what will be the broadcaster’s largest World Cup coverage to date, as the 2026 tournament — jointly hosted by US, Canada and Mexico — expands to 104 matches under FIFA’s new competition format.

Movistar Plus believes the four-channel structure will be particularly important during the closing rounds of the group stage, where simultaneous kick-offs are scheduled to preserve sporting integrity.

According to the official fixture calendar, the final group-stage matchdays between June 24th and 27th will feature six matches per day, divided into three time slots with two concurrent games in each window. As a result, DAZN Mundial and DAZN Mundial 2 are expected to serve as the primary simultaneous match feeds.

The schedule does not present any periods with three or four matches taking place at the same time, meaning the third and fourth channels are likely to function as reserve feeds for additional programming requirements, scheduling flexibility or supplementary tournament coverage.

Alongside the DAZN operation, Movistar Plus+ is also preparing the launch of Fanzone por M+, a temporary editorial channel designed to accompany the World Cup beyond live match broadcasts.

The new service will launch on May 26th and remain available until July 21st on channel 57, replacing M+ LaLiga 2 during the tournament period.

Unlike the DAZN-branded feeds, Fanzone por M+ will focus on studio programming and original content, including interviews, documentaries, analysis shows and special productions created by La Casa del Fútbol. The channel is also expected to carry a selection of international fixtures in the build-up to the World Cup.

During the competition, the main sports channel block on Movistar Plus+ is expected to be organised as follows:

  • Channel 50 – M+ Vamos
  • Channel 51 – M+ Vamos 2
  • Channel 52 – M+ Vamos 3
  • Channel 53 – 1ª Federación
  • Channel 54 – M+ LaLiga
  • Channel 55 – DAZN Mundial
  • Channel 56 – LaLiga TV Hypermotion
  • Channel 57 – Fanzone por M+
  • Channel 58 – DAZN Mundial 2
  • Channel 59 – LaLiga TV Hypermotion 2
  • Channel 60 – M+ Liga de Campeones
  • Channel 61 – M+ Liga de Campeones 2
  • Channel 173 – DAZN Mundial 3
  • Channel 174 – DAZN Mundial 4
