Big Boss Bangla returns after 10 years

March 11, 2026

Media and entertainment powerhouse Banijay Entertainment has announced the return of Big Boss Bangla, marking the revival of the iconic reality format in Bengali after a decade hiatus. The series will be produced by EndemolShine India for JioStar’s Star Jalsha, with celebrated cricket legend, Sourav Ganguly, confirmed as host.

Unveiled in spectacular fashion by Ganguly at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, against the backdrop of a gala cricket match, the Banijay Entertainment franchise now expands its footprint in India to seven languages. The new Bangla addition sits alongside the enormously successful Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Malayalam and Hindi iterations, with the Hindi version’s most recent run becoming the most-watched non-fiction show on OTT during its finale week.

Deepak Dhar, Founder & Group CEO, Banijay Asia & EndemolShine India, says: “Bigg Boss has grown into one of the most powerful and enduring entertainment formats in the country – bringing it back to Bengal allows us to celebrate the state’s vibrant culture. With Star Jalsha as our partner, and Sourav Ganguly leading the show, we are confident Bigg Boss Bangla will resonate deeply with viewers and deliver the scale, energy, and engagement the franchise is celebrated for.”

Host, Sourav Ganguly adds: “Bigg Boss is a format built on strong personalities, bold opinions, and compelling conversations – qualities deeply rooted in Bengal’s cultural fabric. I can’t wait to collaborate with Star Jalsha to bring Bigg Boss Bangla to audiences in a way that reflects the passion, emotion, and distinctive identity of our state. Connecting with viewers and being part of their journey will be key as this season unfolds.”

Sumanta Bose, Star Plus, Star Bharat and Star Utsav, East and West Cluster, JioStar comments: “The launch of Bigg Boss Bangla marks a significant expansion of one of India’s most powerful entertainment franchises into a high-potential market. For Star Jalsha, this addition represents an important milestone in our leadership journey and reinforces our commitment to delivering differentiated, large-scale entertainment. With Sourav Ganguly at the helm, we are presenting the show with strong ambition, deep conviction, and a clear vision to build a high-impact non-fiction franchise.”

Since its launch in 1999, Banijay Entertainment’s Big Brother format continues to stand as one of the most successful and influential reality franchises of all time, with 70 adaptations and 600+ seasons to-date, and is currently active in 27 territories.
