November 13, 2025

AI-based market research platform MX8 Labs has announced that Michael Collette has been appointed Chairman of its Board of Directors. Collette is an industry veteran who brings over three decades of experience, leadership and innovation to MX8 Labs.

“I’m excited and honoured to join MX8 Labs as its Chairman of the Board,” said Collette. “The potential for AI to transform industries, drive efficiencies and innovation at scale while upending the status quo has never been more apparent than how MX8 Labs is deploying its use to fundamentally redefine the research industry.”

Collette has served as CEO of three venture-backed companies: Ucentric Systems (a pioneer in Multiroom DVR that was acquired by Motorola), PhyFlex Networks (an active Ethernet networking solutions company that was sold to Cienna) and Cognitive Networks, a trailblazer in Automatic Content Recognition (ACR) on Smart TVs that was purchased by Vizio to act as the foundation for its Inscape business.

Following the sale of Cognitive, Colette served as General Manager of Vizio’s Inscape Data Service business unit, helping the team achieve consistent high revenue growth. In 2017, Mr. Collette co-founded Dativa, a data science and data engineering services company specialising in applying granular TV data that was later sold to research company MarketCast. Most recently, Colette was employed as a contract executive for TV Scientific and was CEO of Run3TV, a provider of the software layer for ATSC 3.0.

“Michael brings a wealth of ad tech experience as a founder, executive and consultant and has had so much success identifying and helping emerging companies grow and thrive,” said Megan Daniels, CEO of MX8 Labs. “We’re lucky to have him and look forward to having his expertise help drive our mission to reinvent the way survey research is performed.”

Collette founded MediaTech Strategies in 1994, providing consulting services to dozens of companies, from Fortune 500 to early-stage startups and investors, for a total of 10 years. He is also an author of numerous patents, he has received multiple innovation awards, including an Emmy in 2024 for his technical contributions to the ACR technology developed by Cognitive Networks.
