Mediaite invests in new YouTube channel

March 21, 2025

Mediaite is making an investment in a new video operation and YouTube channel, launching new programmes and content deals with prominent media personalities.
This expansion is modeled on the growth of Law&Crime, the legal and true crime company founded by Dan Abrams, that now boasts nearly 7 million subscribers on its main channel and five other channels seeing strong growth.

A new video iteration of the daily Dan Abrams Show on SiriusXM, featuring commentary and interviews from Abrams, as well as unique content designed specifically with the YouTube audience in mind, will headline the new video offering.

The new Mediaite YouTube channel also features Spin Room, which will air twice each week and is hosted by Jesse Weber. Spin Room tackles the media and political topics of the week in a fun, rollicking format similar to Sidebar — the hit show on Law&Crime that is also hosted by Weber.

Colby Hall, Mediaite’s founding editor, will host and produce videos for the channel. Joe DePaolo, Mediaite’s co-managing editor, will serve as the executive producer of both Spin Room and the video version of The Dan Abrams Show.

Mediaite has tapped a manager with serious experience growing channels for major political personalities to take over a newly-hired team of producers and editors who will work to grow the page and oversee the partner channels.

The Mediaite channel will feature original shows, news and opinion, live commentary on major political events, and video podcasts such as Mediaite editor-in-chief Aidan McLaughlin’s weekly interview show Press Club. McLaughlin has sat down with some of the biggest names in news for the show, from Sean Hannity to Bill Maher; Rachel Maddow to Alyssa Farah Griffin.

Mediaite is also now recruiting some of the best-known journalists and media personalities to contribute to Mediaite’s page, as well as offering development deals for their own pages. We’ll have some exciting talent announcements to share in the coming weeks.

Abrams described this as the “biggest new initiative for Mediaite since its launch in 2009,” adding: “YouTube is the future for politics and news content and Mediaite is positioned perfectly to be a leader in the space.”
