BFBS invites partners to build a next-gen digital media platform
February 6, 2025
BFBS is seeking strategic partners to help deliver trusted and secure media experiences to the UK’s Armed Forces and their families. Using digital streaming and traditional broadcast platforms, this will enrich their lives by keeping them informed and entertained while meeting their evolving media needs.
“We’re embarking on a journey towards a seamless, multi-platform digital media ecosystem, and we recognise that collaboration is essential to achieving our goals. We welcome the opportunity to engage with organisations that can contribute – whether partially or fully – to the development of our future platform,” said Ben Chapman, CEO of BFBS.
BFBS serves personnel and their families overseas with a comprehensive suite of digital media services spanning traditional broadcast, streaming, and interactive platforms. This includes a bespoke mix of current British TV, public service broadcasting, and access to premium sports, series, and films. This initiative aims to transform how the UK Armed Forces access media, offering them secure, exclusive experiences across all devices and platforms, wherever they are, whenever they want.
BFBS believes that the right combination of expertise and collaboration will be essential to creating a revolutionary platform, designed to meet both current and future needs of its users.
Expression of Interest (EOI) Process Now Open
BFBS invites expressions of interest from organisations with comprehensive capabilities across technology provision, broadcast services, media distribution, systems integration, and secure app development. It is particularly interested in hearing from organisations that can provide end-to-end solutions encompassing all these areas but will consider consortia that can demonstrate seamless integration of services.
The EOI includes both traditional broadcast capabilities and cutting-edge digital streaming solutions, with a focus on solutions that can adapt to emerging technologies and evolving user preferences whilst maintaining the highest standards of security.
BFBS has appointed Spicy Mango, a digital transformation specialist, to support it through the EOI process and select future strategic partners.
