Spain: Movistar switching off DSL

FTTH lines in Spain grew by 102,921 in February 2024, reaching a total of 15.6 million, according to the latest report from CNMC.
Some 5.4 million lines, 34.6 per cent of the total, belong to Movistar with 310,000 new lines added on a year-on-year basis. Movistar, Orange and MásMóvil together control 72.6 per cent of the lines.
Meanwhile, Movistar is switching off its DSL network on April 19th coinciding with its 100th anniversary. Overall, the DSL blackout is expected to affect around 440,000 Spaniards in 7,440 municipalities in the country.
