Movistar faces football overcharging fine
June 19, 2019
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Spanish regulatory body CNMC has opened a case against Movistar for overcharging Vodafone and Orange for premium football on El Partidazo, which covers the best La Liga matches every week.
A year ago, Movistar acknowledged the overcharging and paid compensation to its rivals. Now, the CNMC believes that was insufficient, because there was a real damage as its rivals could not compete in a fair market with free competition as Movistar dominated the market. That is why CNMC will now ask Movistar for further compensation.
