Ofcom updates on BBC Scotland channel
April 20, 2018
Ofcom has published a consultation to explain and invite views on its provisional decision to approve the launch of a new channel for audiences in Scotland.
In a statement, the media regulator said: “Following careful review, our provisional decision is that the BBC may proceed with the launch of the new channel as planned, as we consider the public value offered by a BBC Scotland channel would justify any potential adverse effects on fair and effective competition it may cause.”
“We are seeking views from interested or affected organisations and individuals on our provisional decision, which must be submitted by 18 May 2018. Following this consultation, we will review all feedback from stakeholders, and intend to publish our final decision on whether the BBC may proceed with the launch of the channel by July 2018. Further information is available on our website.”
