Video games boost Vivendi revenues

French entertainment and telecoms company Vivendi has reported a solid start to the year with huge sales of Call of Duty: Black Ops and World of Warcraft boosting earnings in its games division by almost a third, more than countering a plunge of 35 per cent at Universal Music Group.
Overall Vivendi, which also owns including French pay-TV firm Canal+ and telecoms operator SFR, reported total revenues up 3.8 per cent year on year to €7.18 billion. Earnings before interest, tax and amortisation rose 7.2 per cent to €1.7 billion. Net income rose 29 per cent to €950 million.
