Popbox streams Web content to TV
January 6, 2010
Popbox, a wireless set-top box that streams Netflix to TVs, will be unveiled this week at the Consumer Electronics Show and launch at stores in March.
Popbox is the latest stand-alone device to stream Netflix to TVs. Roku, the first set-top to stream Netflix straight to TVs, also comes with wi-fi built in. The Popbox, from company Syabas Technology, also will pull PC/Mac-based photos, music and video for viewing on TVs as well. Syabas has licensed IMDb.com content to organise people's media on Popbox similarly to the popular online movie database.
