Mediaset profits, secures content

Italian broadcaster Mediaset posted first-half net profits up 2.5 per cent at E340.8m, on revenue 4.2 per cent higher at E2.08bn, citing higher revenues from its pay-per-view division and Spanish Gestevision Telecinco unit. ROK inks deal with Warid Telecom

ROK Entertainment, the UK-based mobile applications development company, has reached agreement with Pakistan mobile operator, Warid Telecom, to provide streamed mobile TV over Warid’s existing 2.5G network. Warid Telecom – part owned by Singtel – aim to launch the multi-channel TV offering in a matter of weeks as a subscription-based service.

Channel 4’s video-on-demand service 4oD will now allow users to download shows up to 30 days after transmission, an increase from the seven-day cut-off point. Users will be able to store episodes on a PC for a further 30 days.
