Uruguay’s publicly-owned Television National del Uruguay (TNU) has started digital terrestrial transmissions in the key Montevideo metropolitan area using the Japanese ISDB-T standard.
Uruguay’s Industry Minister, Roberto Kreimerman, was present at the switch-on ceremony along with Japan’s Communications deputy minister, Tetsuo Yamakawa, who explained that the technology would be made available to mobile phones, laptops and tablet devices.
Japan had donated transmission equipment to TNU.
