Starlink wraps Gen-1 DTC

SpaceX’s Starlink broadband system has completed its 1st Generation deployment of Direct-to-Cellular satellites. It has launched more than 650 craft over the past 18 months and says that 12 million people have been served with emergency connectivity.

Posting in social media, SpaceX said it is “live or partnered” in more than eight countries across five continents, and specifically names T-Mobile in the US, Rogers in Canada and Optus/Telstra in Australia. Other named partners include‘One NZ in New Zealand, KDDI in Japan, Salt in Switzerland, Entel in Chile and Peru.

SpaceX said that the next wave for 2026 includes Virgin Media O2 in the UK and 14 African nations served by Airtel.
