Richard Ayoade, Warwick Davis unite for Audible Original podcast

June 2, 2025

Audible, a provider of spoken word entertainment, has announced the launch of a new comedy podcast, Future Tense with Richard Ayoade and Warwick Davis, available to pre-order now and launching exclusively on Audible on June 5th.

Across six episodes, the determinedly pessimistic Richard Ayoade and inexplicably cheerful Warwick Davis, both with a shared love of and past roles in Sci-Fi, venture beneath Audible HQ to the ‘Future Tense lab’, fully equipped to interrogate the future we’re all being told to look forward to.

From the potential drawbacks of celebrating your 150th birthday, to whether human civilisation peaked with the penny-farthing, Richard and Warwick deliver equal parts naïve enthusiasm and sharp scepticism as they tackle the big questions facing our collective future.

With help from comedic performer and popular science-writer, Helen Keen and expert guests bearing actual facts, listeners will go on a hilarious yet informative journey – from robots to relationships – to unravel a future that nobody ordered, but everyone will receive.

Reflecting on the podcast, Davis said: “I’m absolutely thrilled to have worked with Richard Ayoade on Audible’s brilliant new podcast series, Future Tense. His brilliantly dry wit was the perfect counterpoint to my optimism and made for a fun, dynamic collaboration, and I learned a lot along the way too.”

Ayoade added: “When I was first asked about this podcast I thought it was a bad idea, but then maybe it could be okay. And now we’ve made that bad or maybe okay idea a reality. I hope you listen and agree.”
