FilmRise acquires US distribution rights to Peacock’s departure

FilmRise, the New York City-based film and television studio and streaming network, has acquired the US distribution rights to the Peacock Original series Departure. The high-octane conspiracy series stars Emmy Award-winning actress Archie Panjabi and the late Oscar and Emmy Award-winning actor Christopher Plummer, who won two Canadian Screen Awards for his performances in seasons one and two of the series.

Departure (18 x 60) is a suspense drama series produced by Shaftesbury, in association with Corus Entertainment, Starlings Entertainment and Red Arrow Studios International for Global (Canada) and ran for two seasons as a Peacock Original in the US. The series follows a brilliant but haunted accident investigator Kendra Malley (Panjabi) and her team, including her complicated mentor Howard Lawson (Plummer, in the first two seasons), as they investigate a series of mass transportation disasters. Season one centers on the mysterious disappearance of Flight 716, a passenger plane that vanishes over the Atlantic Ocean, season two dissects a high-speed train derailment on the US-Canada border, and season three delves into the sinking of a ferry off the coast of Newfoundland, whose frigid waters are hiding more than just icebergs.

The deal was negotiated by Keymoore with the assistance of Dan Thunell at Propagate Content on behalf of Starlings Entertainment.
