Sky Sports has acquired almost the entire BBC Formula One presenting team, including Martin Brundle and David Croft, to front its coverage of the motor racing championship next season.

Brundle, the BBC’s former F1 television commentator, and Croft, who anchored coverage of the sport on Radio 5 Live, will be part of a Sky Sports team that will also include their former BBC colleagues Natalie Pinkham and Anthony Davidson.

Sky has also hired Steve Rider, who anchored F1 coverage when it was on ITV, to stage a series of “big interviews” with grand prix legends to broadcast on the F1 channel.

It leaves the BBC looking for a whole new commentary team, across TV and radio, for its reduced F1 coverage next season.
