Two contestants reach Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? final question in ITV’s new season
April 1, 2026
ITV has announced that viewers are in for one of the most dramatic seasons of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? to date, when the iconic quiz show returns to screens later this April, with at least one contestant winning the £1 million top prize.
The new season will see two contestants make it all the way to the £1 million question, placing them just one answer away from winning the show’s ultimate prize and a life-changing sum of money.
Winning £1 million on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? remains an exceptionally rare achievement, with only six contestants in the show’s UK history having taken home the top prize and only one winner since Jeremy Clarkson became host.
Whilst details of the contestants and their gameplay are being kept under wraps, viewers will be left wondering whether one or more contestants will join the elite group of contestants who have won the coveted £1 million prize in the show’s UK history.
Clarkson commented: “I think this might be my favourite series so far. There are some properly nail-biting moments and seeing two contestants get to the £1 million question was extraordinary. When they’re sitting there on that final question, the tension in the studio is incredible, you can really feel it. I can’t wait for people to watch it.”
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? is a Sony Pictures Television format produced by Stellify Media and returns to ITV later this April for its 36th season.
