Rivada: Is no news good news?
September 23, 2025

Executives from Rivada Space Networks were present last week at the World Space Business Week in Paris and, as ever, were diligently explaining what their planned ‘Outernet’ highly-secure, laser-linked satellite scheme could provide.
However, there was no news from the event as to how the billion-dollar constellation could be financed, nor on whether Rivada would be in a position to meet its initial ITU obligations to have a substantial proportion of the 576 constellation in orbit by July 2026. The ITU rules, determined in July 2023, mean that Rivada must orbit at least 144 satellites by next June, 144 by September 2026, and the balance by mid-2028.
The market has waited for news, and the only comment came from an insider, while stressing that there is nothing to say at the moment added “we need a little more patience”.
What might be read into these non-comments, other than perhaps there’s more positive news approaching? Meanwhile, Rivada maintains a full complement of expensive senior staffers including some heavyweight skills that one would think would be wasteful if something positive wasn’t coming down the road.
