HBO orders more The Last of Us

HBO Original drama series The Last of Us has been renewed for a third season, ahead of its season 2 debut. The seven-episode second season of debuts on April 14th on Sky Atlantic (and April 13th in the US on Max).

Season 1 of the series, which is based on the PlayStation video games, proved a huge hit for HBO amongst audiences and critics alike, with 32 million viewers watching per episode in the US by its end and also delivering strong viewing figures for Sky. Meanwhile, the trailer for Season 2 set HBO viewing records.

Season 2 returning cast includes Pedro Pascal as Joel, Bella Ramsey as Ellie, Gabriel Luna as Tommy, and Rutina Wesley as Maria. Previously announced new cast includes Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, Isabela Merced as Dina, Young Mazino as Jesse, Ariela Barer as Mel, Tati Gabrielle as Nora, Spencer Lord as Owen, Danny Ramirez as Manny, and Jeffrey Wright as Isaac. Catherine O’Hara also guest stars. The season, set five years after the events of the first season, sees Joel and Ellie drawn into conflict with each other and a world even more dangerous and unpredictable than the one they left behind.
