SBTi approves Eutelsat’s greenhouse gas reductions targets

Eutelsat has announced that its near-term greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction targets have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The SBTi has recognised the Group’s scope 1 and 2 targets as aligned with a 1.5°C trajectory, in line with the Paris Agreement. The approved targets include:
- A 50 per cent absolute reduction in energy-related GHG emissions (Scopes 1+2) by 2030, using 2021 as the baseline year.
- A 52 per cent reduction in carbon intensity per Satellite Mbit (Scope 3) by 2030, within the same timeframe.

In 2024, Eutelsat Group says it achieved significant milestones in its environmental strategy, including the implementation of new solar panel programmes at its teleports in Mexico, alongside expanding similar initiatives in Italy and Portugal. Additionally, it made substantial progress by transitioning to green energy contracts, further solidifying our commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and advancing sustainable practices across operations.
