Folk mythology meets the smartest, tech-savvy kid on the block in Cartoon Network’s latest original series in India. The WarnerMedia channel has announced its first local superhero Ekans – Ek Se Badhkar Snake – and its first CGI series – which debuts on June 27th.
The series features the 13-year-old street-smart Ekans, who is “the chosen one” thanks to his heart of gold and fearless attitude. With extraordinary serpent-like powers, the tech-savvy youngster obtains heightened sensory perceptions, ability to camouflage, flexibility and strength to keep humanity safe.
Abhishek Dutta, South Asia Network Head for Cartoon Network and POGO, said, “Kids and their families are going to love Ekans, the show’s teen protagonist, because of his intelligence, unique superpowers and his ability to overcome challenges for the greater good. We have high hopes for our first sci-fi superhero.”
The show’s dynamic title track is a collaborative effort of Bollywood’s most sought-after artists including award-winning Indian playback singer Kailash Kher, popular freestyle rap sensation Parry G, legendary poet and author Gulzar, and music composer Simaab Sen.
Ekans – Ek Se Badhkar Snake is produced by Kolkata-based studio Hi-Tech Animation, and joins other recent local originals in India including Dabangg – The Animated Series on Cartoon Network; as well as Titoo – Har Jawaab Ka Sawaal Hu, Smashing Simmba and Lambu-G Tingu-G on companion channel POGO.
