WarnerMedia axes DC Universe
September 21, 2020
WarnerMedia has announced it is soon closing its DC Universe streaming service after just two years.
The SVoD service, which is exclusively available in the US, offers content derived from DC Comics. WarnerMedia said that it will now evolve into DC Universe Infinite and relaunch in January 2021 as a digital comic platform.
Various content from DC Universe, including the live-action shows Doom Patrol and Titans, as well as hit animated series Harley Quinn, will be moved to HBO Max in the US, whilst there are various carriage deals for the titles in place in other global territories where HBO Max isn’t present.
Until October 30th, existing DC Universe subscribers will be given the option to add HBO Max to their subscription for an extra $4.99 per month.
