Spain: UTECA Feb deadline for new DTT plan
January 9, 2019
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Spain’s largest TV Association, UTECA, has set February as the deadline for the new DTT plan to be approved by the country’s government.
The new DTT plan, initially scheduled for approval last December, is vital for the start of the second digital dividend in the country with the release of the 700 MHz band.
DTT simulcasting in the new frequencies is likely to commence next month until March 2020 when the process will be completed with the switch-off of DTT transmissions in the 694-790 MHz band.
This is the roadmap included in the new DTT plan that will be shortly approved by the government in order to implement the second digital dividend for the introduction of 5G services.
The start of 5G services will take place in June 2020 at the latest – the EU deadline.
