Spain: 5.6 m pay-TV subs

The number of pay-TV subscribers in Spain continues to grow with 5.6 million at the end of 2015, almost half a million more than the previous year, according to the latest annual report from CNMC.
Most subscribers are enjoying a convergent package with up to five different services. These packages reached 3.6 million new customers, up 1.4 million, whereas quadplay offerings grew from 5.8 million to 6.1 million.
Most subscribers have access to their packages through FTTH networks. Spain already has 3.2 million FTTH lines, with the number of connections growing by 51.1 per cent in 2015 with 22.9 million.
Total revenues in the audiovisual market amounted to €4.222 billion, up 11.5 per cent. Overall, the telco market made a total of €30.821 billion in revenues with the largest operators Telefónica, Vodafone and Orange taking 78.2 per cent of the market.
