June 2, 2015
From David Del Valle in Madrid
Spain has broken its TV viewing record with Spaniards spending an average of 5 days (119 hours) in front of the TV in May, according to TV consultancy firm Barlovento Comunicacion with data from Kantar Media.
On average, every TV viewer spent 231 minutes (3 hours and 51 minutes) watching TV in May, albeit 9 minutes lower than the same month last year. Retired people spent 7 days, followed by “independent adults”, with 6.5 days, “adult couples without children”, with 6 days. Couples with little children and single-parent homes are the population segments with less TV consumption, 3.7 and 4 days, respectively. By Regions, Valencia, in the east of Spain, took the lead in TV consumption and Canaries, the least.
