Bharti Airtel’s DTH pay-TV division (Airtel Digital TV) is reporting that its Indian subscribers have topped the 10 million mark, and this has been achieved within 6 years of the division’s start up.
Shashi Arora, CEO – Airtel Digital TV said, “At Airtel Digital TV, we strive to empower our customers with superior television viewing experience by offering innovative & life enriching services backed with cutting-edge technology. These offerings have not only helped increase customer stickiness but also made us one of the fastest growing DTH companies today.”
“The 10-million milestone gives us almost 25 per centt market share of active households among all DTH players in India. That’s a good number to have to keep operations on a steady basis,” Arora added., “Our net adds over the last few years has been on an average of 1 million per annum,” Arora said. Digital TV revenue increased 15.8% in the three months ended December 2014 from a year earlier.
Future plans include adding 12 new channels to its existing 456-channel portfolio.
The company has many other firsts to its credit: the first to introduce the Universal Remote to the market along with value added services like its Multi-lingual EPG.
