4k boosts Sony TV division

Sony Corp is on track to reverse nine years of TV division losses and move into profit, helped by enthusiastic take-up of 4K sets and much close attention to cost cutting and greater efficiencies in the TV and cell-phone divisions.
The news comes from Sony’s president Kazuo Hirai. “We are also poised to reinforce our products, mainly 4K TVs,” he said in an interview in Japan. He added that Sony will place priority on maintaining market share in Japan for its smartphones and increasing its relatively higher share in Europe through aggressive marketing.
Sony is adding new 4K displays (and projectors) to its line-up in time for CES in January. New ‘Bravia’ branded models in 55” and 65” are now available complete with its wide colour gamut technology, as well as the giant 84” display now much-loved in the corporate and oligarch markets.
