December 3, 2012
The latest Worldwide IPTV Subscriber Market report from Research and Markets Ltd has found that the global IPTV subscriber market totaled around 65.7 million by the end of the first quarter of 2012, growing 34.5 per cent year-on-year.
As IPTV penetration rate is near saturation in Western Europe, it is projected that Asia will become the most important growth driver in the global IPTV subscriber market in the future. With the development of open services and participation of new operators, it is projected that the global IPTV subscriber market will be able to reach around 69.4 million by the end of the second quarter of 2012.
Driven by buoyant growth in the Chinese market, the global IPTV subscriber market will be further boosted to top around 80.9 million by the first quarter of 2013, representing a 23.3 per cent year-on-year growth.
