Telefónica targets 1m 4K subs, brands its own set

Telefónica will rely on the development of 4K to increase its subscriber basis with the aim of reaching up to 1 million 4K subs by 2018.
To this end, the company intends boost the purchase of 4K TV sets among its subscribers through agreements with the main electronic manufacturers and the manufacture of its own 4K STBs and TV sets.
Telefónica will launch its own 4K TV sets with the manufacturer Vestel. The company will also produce and buy 4K content through agreements with the main content providers, majors and other providers like Dorna (Motorcycling), One Management (Formula 1) or La Liga. Also, its own in-house productions will be produced under the 4K format to be distributed on all devices.
