X-Files still a ratings juggernaut
January 28, 2016
The return of The X-Files outrated its 2002 series finale by a modest margin on January 25th. Nielsen figures show The X-Files delivered close to 16.5 million viewers (including catch-up and PVR views) up from 2002’s 13.3 million tuning in for ‘The Truth‘.
The airing of new episode ‘My Struggle‘ got a ratings boost by following the NFC championship game, which brought in 40 million viewers. Fans of The X-Files were none too pleased when the episode was delayed by nearly 25 minutes due to post-game analysis from the Fox Sports anchor team.
