Canal+ to axe Sport+ channel
March 25, 2015
From Pascale Paoli-Lebailly in Paris
Canal+ Group is planning to close sport channel Sport+, probably before next Summer, according to sports daily L’Equipe.
Once closed, the group would rely on Canal+ sport premium content offered on Canal+ Sport, Infosport and Eurosport (which has signed an exclusivity deal with Canalsat) to appease its sports fans.
Sport+ is currently broadcast on Canalsat and Numericable.
If closed, this channel would be the fourth thematic one to be axed by Canal+ this year. Maison+ is set to end on March 27th, and Cuisine+ and Jimmy will cease transmission at the end of June.
