Opera Software has confirmed it will provide web technology to Thomson. The Opera Devices SDK 9.7 Web technology will be integrated in Thomson's line of STBs, in the STB middleware software "THOMSuite" and the Thomson Service Platform software SmartVision".

Opera will serve as one rendering component for the next generation of Thomson platforms, which allows for new Web-based services to be developed for multiple devices. Opera will be pre-integrated on Thomson STBs for the IPTV market as well as the company's hybrid deployments, and it will be used as one of the rendering engines on Thomson's middleware.
