BTV launching HD

Beijing TV Station (BTV) will take the lead in China to broadcast HD programmes starting from September 28th. BTV aims at broadcasting high definition programmes in three channels over the upcoming three years, and gradually finishing the reform of HD interactive cable TV networks as well as promoting HD interactive set-top boxes at the same time.
The TV station expected to develop 300,000 subscribers in key urban demonstrative sub-districts, and boost the user number to 2.6 million in three years. Currently, 240,000 subscribers are capable of receiving HD digital TV signals in the city.
